50-year music career, singer-songwriter-keyboardist “Stormin'” Norman Seldin has been a frontman, a sideman, a manager, a concert promoter and a music instructor. And recently, he has received some overdue recognition.
Seldin is stepping out from the trenches with “Asbury Park: Then and Now.” The two-CD, 46-track set, released on Seldin’s own Ivory International label, includes recordings from throughout his career, and offers shore music fans a rare opportunity to hear legendary groups like The Jaywalkers, The Joyful Noyze (featuring E Street Band saxophonist Clarence Clemons) and The Motifs on CD.
Five members of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band (Clemons, Max Weinberg, Garry Tallent, Roy Bittan and the late Danny Federici) back Seldin on eight 1980 recordings. Other luminaries, such as Southside Johnny, the late Harry Ray (of Ray, Goodman and Brown fame) and drummer Bernard “Pretty” Purdie also make appearances

Norman,
You probably don’t remember me but I remember you. We grew up together in FH way back when. Bought my first engagement ring from your Dad. Have only actually seen you perform twice, once at the Purple Onion in the Village and the other time in your own living room with The Charts. So glad to see you’re still out there. Living in Virginia now. If you ever find yourself near Winchester give me a heads up.

Thanks so much for the wonderful compliments and for twenty two years now I have been married to a Mississippi girl Jamey, whose mom came from a little town called Magnolia, MS. I am very fortunate to still be alive and both selling Steinway & Sons pianos for Jacobs Music in Lawrenceville, NJ and performing on a regular basis. Maybe next year we will make a trip back in time and perform Under The Hill Saloon with Tim McGiveran. Hope all is well with you and your family. Write whenever you have time and I’ll try to answer.

hey sweet baby…sure hope you receive this message…have spent the last two days watching videos of you and listening to the very best pianist BAR NONE!!! …not to speak of the most soul-wrenching voice I HAVE EVER HEARD!!!!! ( and the fact that that I spent six of the last twelve years as Andrea Bocelli’s lady says mucho for a trained musical ear ) I came home to visit my elderly mother and Andrea couldn’t leave the studio so he stayed in Tuscany….one week into the visit I became paralyzed…still undiagnosed.I cut off all ties with him… did not want to hold back his stellar career and this year he had a baby girl with his manager….but I am much better now…would give any amount of money to hear you sing somewhere over the rainbow!!! NOBODY NOWHERE NOHOW can do that song like you…and I would die for a copy of that album that I “produced” ( ha )…. call me when you
