DARIUS GRIFFIN

40 YEARS AGO TODAY  This is a very inspiring project for me. To “promulgate” the work of Robert Wilson and Bryce Nickels, interviewing Darius Griffin, Rutgers basketball 1978-1982, “The Forgotten Era.” Darius stole the ball from #8 UCLA on Dec. 3rd 1981 and Rutgers upset UCLA in the very 1st college basketball game at the Meadowlands. BUT WHAT REALLY RESONATES for me (and Us as Rutgers basketball fans) are the poignant words of Darius (in video) “Those Rutgers fans follow you wherever you go.”

I think lots of people should see this video. YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EobNmw6Tms

I find it synchronistic that this video is here now and Rutgers is playing #2 Purdue on Thursday December 9th.

PLEASE HELP TO SHARE THIS ( 2 minute) VIDEO. A powerful message.

About DARIUS GRIFFIN

Darius Griffin is the head coach of the Piscataway High School Boys basketball team, a #Rutgers Alumni, and a Scarlet Knights basketball player from 1978-1982.

Coach Griffin played at Rutgers during the “Forgotten Era.” Even the most diehard fans forget Rutgers Men’s #basketball dominance from the mid-seventies to the early eighties.

Here, we present the first video in a series of short films on the Forgotten Era. In this video, Coach Griffin reflects on Rutgers stunning upset win over the #8 ranked #UCLA Bruins on December 3, 1981. This game has the distinction of being the first Men’s Basketball game played at the Brendan Byrne Arena in the Meadowlands.

The release of this video marks the 40th anniversary of this game from the Forgotten Era.

ROBERT WILSON has been a professional photographer for over 25 years. Fifteen of those years, he’s been the owner of Rob Wilson hotography based in New Jersey. Rob specializes in video production and portrait photography. Everyone and every business has a story to tell, and Rob’s goal is to help people get their message out in an authentic way.

After hours of filming and even more with the editing process, we are happy to release the first video of the Rutgers Basketball “Forgotten Era” series. The idea of this project started when Rob asked his friend BRYCE NICKELS (@Bryce_Nickels)  if he knew anybody with an interesting story. Bryce, who is a Professor of Genetics at Rutgers University, immediately thought of his son’s Piscataway High School basketball coach and former Rutgers player and alumni Darius Griffin.
